And Just like that
And just like that fall gives way to winter,
and a year of fighting and ripping and tearing
through dirt in an effort to
make new seeds out of rotten
dead withering leaves,
ends.
Hope emerges in the form of
a stranger’s face and unread books
and crystal blue waters
and uncharted earth.
Hope decides to stay and then leave and leave again
like the moon.
In the end, we go where we belong.
In the end, we return to the places
from which we ran.
