I believe in you like

I believe in you

like I believe in dust devils

and mountain lions,

and allowances lurking and

lingering for payment

for

exceeding

expectations

and rumbling through

outer wares and fair shares.

I believe in you

like I believe in

used shoes, laces gently

borrowed

and twisted with neon

plastic at the ends

so they don’t

slip

through.
